Is this the most beautiful infinity pool in Australia? Zoe Falls, Queensland

Zoe Falls is located on Hinchinbrook Island in tropical North Queensland. The Falls are stunning, and the huge pool beneath them is just the right temperature to cool off in the North Queensland heat. Yet, as nice as the falls are, the real special thing about Zoe Falls is the infinity pool above it that overlooks Hinchinbrook Island.
Zoe Falls are located a short stroll (roughly 1km) upstream from South Zoe bay. South Zoe can be accessed a couple of ways depending on how much time you have, and how much of Hinchinbrook Island you’d like to see.

  • Private boat from Cardwell or Lucinda
  • Sea kayak (there are tours that you can do – Sean’s mum did one and loved it!)
  • As part of the Thorborne Trail (a 3-day, 2-night 32km hike that runs the length of Hinchinbrook Island)
Once you’ve reached the Falls and had a swim, you will carry on following part of the Thorsborne Trail to reach the infinity pool. The trail climbs up through rocky terrain until you get to the top where there is a large rock plateau with a few different freshwater swimming holes. The jewel of which is the infinity pool overlooking the island, right at the top of Zoe Falls.

This spot is definitely not to be missed when passing through North Queensland. If you don’t have time to do the Thorsborne Trail, or didn’t manage to book a spot on it (it generally books out months in advance). Then we highly suggest doing a day trip to South Zoe and the falls. The island is beautiful and the boat trip out is pretty special.

As always in North Queensland, be crocodile aware. Check out the Queensland Parks site on South Zoe Bay here for any current warnings.
